Family Folies

Peter always knew he was destined for stardom. From a young age, he would prance around the house in front of his family, performing scenes from his favorite movies and TV shows. His mother, Voula, would watch with adoration as her son showcased his talents. He would often dress up in her clothes, putting on his red lipstick and white pearls, much to the amusement of his younger brother, Ted.
But as Peter grew older, it became apparent that his dream of becoming an actor was just that- a dream. He had no talent, no skill, no training. All he had was his charm, and he used it to get away with everything and anything. His mother, with her naive and kind nature, always defended him and saw the good in him, even when no one else did.
Meanwhile, Ted was the complete opposite of his older brother. He was mature and hardworking, determined to not follow in Peter's lazy footsteps. While Peter spent his days lounging around the house, Ted was out looking for odd jobs to help support their struggling family. While Ted maintained a solid job record.
Their father, George, was a heart patient and his multiple stays in the hospital reminded the family of their mortality. Voula, being the smart and beautiful woman that she was, understood the importance of sticking together during tough times. And so, the family struggled together, always there for each other.
As the years passed, Peter's dreams of stardom faded away. He realized that he needed to get a job to help support himself. With his mother's guidance and encouragement, he found a job as a salesman. And surprisingly, he excelled at it. Maybe it was his natural charm or maybe it was his determination to prove himself, but he quickly climbed the corporate ladder and became quite successful. But his mental health had taken its toll. All that gender confusion. And making it a boy and girl.
Really left Peter transparent and raw.
He couldn't work anymore. He struggled with hearing voices and with what was real and what wasn't. Reality or fantasy. Grandiose notions of self. Although he had lived a humble existence. He did have some extraordinary experiences.

Ted, on the other hand, had always been the responsible one. He worked hard and eventually landed a job in a prestigious establishment. As the family's financial situation improved, they were able to provide better care for their father, who continued to struggle with his health.
But the best part was that the family was happy. They had each other's support and love, and that was all that mattered. The years of struggle had only brought them closer together, and they cherished every moment they spent together.
In the end, Peter realized that he didn't need to be an actor to be happy. He had his family, and that was enough for him. And as he sat with his mother, sipping coffee and reminiscing about the old days, he couldn't help but feel grateful for her unwavering love and support. Together, they had overcome their struggles and built a stronger family bond, proving that love and perseverance can conquer all.
