Modern Memorials

Death has this significant thing.
The hurried eye has looked by,
A perished creature....
Entreat us tenderly
To ponder little workmanships
In makeup, satin, cedar and wool,
With industrious fingers and hands until
The thimble weighed too heavy
The stitches stopped themselves
And then it was put among the dust
Upon closet shelves..now when I write
For interrupting with tears
Obliterate the etchings and doodles
Too costly for repairs
