The Painted Veil

We all wear a painted veil
No circumstance can prevail
An outcome of pure liking
And no one is really a king

In life so many adorn themselves with one
And lonely men and wives are struggling Only the nuns wear white
And we can redeem ourselves with da light

The color of your painted veil
Is on your lips and your eyes
We all wear a painted veil
From what I surmise
What is my shade?
Is it scarlett red?
Or is it lilac?
Is it a muted fruit?
On his pillowcase
Stained by my lips
