The mid life crisis that never existed.

The transfiguration, then, symbolizes the life to come and thus the goal of ascetic pursuit. It reminds the believer that the vision of God unfolds amidst the splendor of holiness while also pointing toward the way in which the final movement to ecstatic wonder is always grace-filled and joy-laden. There is a purpose and a use for me. It's a reminder as Christ's follower that he is most beautiful and live life as close as possible to an ecstatic one. Christ was on the mountain top. And we are below. We are some safe in his arms. Now let your life unfold. Behold. Jesus Christ is the holy one. God lives in us all.
